The store closes. The metal gate shutters. The graff goes up. Though maybe not for long. In December 2009, The Times reported that the City Council banned security gates that completely shield storefronts from view, permitting gates that allow people to see inside. Affected businesses have until July 1, 2026, to install gates allowing “at least 70 percent of the area they cover to be visible.” All gates installed after July 1, 2011, must comply.

And so the City keeps changing. Still, you know someone will find a new way to tag.
